If you just add a pin next to it (j1-24 ) connect the two and connect to your tach all is good. there is a built in pullup resistor in the ecu connected to that pin. On some 08 and newer GM cars, the tach came from some other source than the PCM. I think it was from the BCM. I've had to pull the tach signal off of the alternator circuit board on an E67 Ecotech swap and off of an E38 L92 swap.
