WebFeb 20, 2024 · Goose Island's fame is - The Big Tree: A tree that is hundreds of years old with a trunk that has a 35 ft diameter! For us, it was a quick drive-by. We parked in the parking lot, hopped out and saw the tree. Then went on our way. The way the park is set up, visitors can see the tree without entering the entire park and paying park admission. Camp, fish, hike, geocache, go boating, and observe and take photos of wildlife, especially birds. We don’t recommend swimming here, as the shoreline has concrete bulkheads, oyster shells, mud flats and marsh grass.
