Wire nails have round shafts and heads and are common in all houses built in the 20th century. The earliest construction was timber frame, sometimes called post and beam, construction. WebThey began by camping in tents and huts, and then moved on to simple houses using building materials available to them such as clay, bush timber and stone. Roofs were thatched or shingled. The cottages they built were simple, influenced by the Georgian architecture popular in Britain.
